A Kitchen Gardener’s Garden

A design for a couple who love gardening, particularly kitchen gardening.

The greenhouse and no dig vegetable garden are made a feature of in this garden rather than being hidden away, with easy access straight down the path from the back door.

This is a north-facing garden, so the breakfast and evening terraces are positioned to catch the sun at the right time of day, with the kitchen garden getting a good bit of sun throughout the day.

A summerhouse incorporates a practical garden shed for tools, and there are generous flower borders which will evolve with time and the homeowners care.

There is also a large pond with access for wildlife, and a clover-rich lawn which will be resilient in periods of low rainfall.

This design incorporates existing trees to give the garden a sense of instant maturity.
